Cambodia Trip - October 2007 Galleries

Phnom Penh : My trip to Cambodia starting Oct 19, 2007. The first couple of days were spent in Phnom Penh, visiting the usual sites such as Wat Phnom, National Museum and Royal Palace.

I also visited the infamous Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng museum, but the photos are for later.

Siem Reap : The gateway to Angkor temples!
Siem Reap is a busy town, and it's growing quite fast now. There are lots of hotels for the tourists coming to see the temples. It still have its charms though, although the tourist area around the old market is always busy. After spending 3 days traveling around the temples, I spent one full day walking around Siem Reap. Quite a change from the temples to a fast growing city.

Sihanoukville : A beach town on the south side of Cambodia. It's facing the south china sea. It's about almost 2 hours from Kampot. I went there after staying in Kampot, and stayed on the beach for a day before moving on to Siem Reap. I stayed at Ochheuteal Beach area, this is the only beach in Sihanoukville where the hotels are right by the water's edge. It was quite a relaxed day just sitting on the beach and watching the sea!

Bokor National Forest : The trip to Bokor National forest. It was a full one day trip, starting from Kampot by pick-up truck. There were about 14 of us on the pickup truck, and the road was really bad. It used to be a one lane road but nature has reclaimed most of the road. It took about 2 1/2 hours to reach the end of the journey, Bokor Casino, and it was about 40 km distance wise.

After spending late morning and had lunch at the casino, we went on an hour's trekking trip through the jungle, then back on the pickup truck into Kampot and took a boat ride back to Kampot.

It was a long day, but quite a memorable day!!

Kampot : The town of Kampot. A beautiful small town by Kampot river near Bokor national park. This town is the starting point for trips to Bokor National forest, but apart from that, it has a charming quality. It's very quiet, there are not too many tourists there and the setting with old houses by the river is quite interesting.

I stayed there for 2 nights, where one of the days was spent at Bokor National forest. Quite the highlight of my trip to Cambodia!
